Research Tools

Our Research Center:
We are located on the 2nd floor. The reference collection offers patrons access to thousands of files containing information about Onondaga County events, people, and places for historians and genealogical research. The Research Center archives, preserves and makes available original historical documents. Admission is free for OHA members, $7 for non-members and $4 for students. Research service for our remote patrons is available at $30 per hour, payment received in advance. The Research Center is open Wednesday-Friday, 10:00-2:00 pm. The research center is closed on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Call 315 428-1864 for further information.

Excelsior:
This is an online database of archival holdings. The retrieved listings will give a short written synopsis of materials held in our collection. When you locate subjects of interest, you can come into our reseach center and access the musum collection to review the actual materials referenced. Go to nysl.nysed.gov. Choose "Search HDI," enter Onondaga Historical Association, the word and, and then your search terms. For example, type Onondaga Historical Association and salt or Onondaga Historical Association and Civil War.
