Who We Are
Onondaga Historical Association Museum & Research Center exists to inspire people's understanding that the history we share as a community is the foundation for our future together. Our purpose is to encourage a diverse audience from the neighborhoods of Syracuse and the communities of Onondaga County to explore, appreciate and utilize their past. To do so, we offer engaging exhibits and programs, pursue partnerships with other cultural organizations and community groups, and develop and
care for a definitive collection related to local history. We operate a museum and research center in Syracuse, New York and are committed to ensuring the vitality of our historic urban location.

The Museum
Our museum is free, however, we encourage donations. We have manypermanent exhibits covering areas of interest including the Underground Railroad, the Franklin Autombile, Syracuse sports memorabilia, localbrewing artifacts and early pottery manufacturing in CNY. Additional information about OHA, its school programs, community events, and membership and donation opportunities are available online or at our museum. Research Tools
Our Research Center:
We are now located on the 5th floor above the OHA's Museum. The reference collection offers patrons access to thousands of files containing information about Onondaga County events, people, and places for historians and genealogical research. The Research Center archives, preserves and makes available original historical documents. Admission is free for OHA members and $7 for non-members.
Research service for our remote patrons is available at $30 per hour, payment received in advance.
The Research Center is open Wednesday-Friday, 10:00-2:00 pm; Mon. & Tues. afternoons by appointment only. The research center is closed on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Please call Mike Flanagan at 315 428-1864 for further information.

This is an online database of museum holdings. The retrieved listings will give a short written synopsis of materials held in our collection. When you locate subjects of interest, you can come into our reseach center and access the musum collection to review the actual materials referenced. Go to nysl.nysed.gov. Choose "Search HDI," enter Onondaga Historical Association, the word and, and then your search terms. For example, type Onondaga Historical Association and salt or Onondaga Historical Association and Civil War.
