OHA produces a variety of videos from short subject interstitials to full length documentary films. Quick Response Codes (QR Codes) enable users to access compelling films in conjunction with historic signage.
OHA also conducts filmed oral histories to record the personal perspectives of our community’s shared history for research purposes. Often we create edited films from this research material. OHA has an ongoing collaboration with the Senior Lawyers Section of the Onondaga County Bar Association to film and edit interviews with leaders from the legal community.
Our staff members work with local professional production companies to ensure the highest quality. Past production partners include Otto Media, Solon Quinn Studios, Daylight Blue Media, and Many Hats Media on projects such as Beneath the Surface: The History of Onondaga Lake, The Onondaga Creekwalk, and the Skä•noñh – Great Law of Peace Center exhibits.
Thanks to the Documentary Heritage Program and the Central New York Library Resources Council, part of OHA’s collection of WSYR films (now under WSTM) is available to view here! The collection is 6pm and 11pm B-roll films from the mid-1960s to 1970s. The selection highlights activism and social justice history, along with daily life in Syracuse and Onondaga County. The link below will send you to the film collection page.
