StoryWalk Ribbon Cutting

April 25 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Join the library, Onondaga Historical Association and the Syracuse Garden Club as two new StoryWalks are unveiled in the Dinosaur Garden. As part of the Voices and Votes collaborative programming, “Giving Thanks’ by Jake Swamp and “Walking Together” by Elder Albert D. Marshall and Louise Zimanyi will be on display and ready to read.

Following the ribbon cutting, guests can enjoy the two new StoryWalks and some light refreshments!

In the event of inclement weather the program will be held in the Sargent Meeting Room.

The Syracuse Garden Club is delighted to sponsor this Story Walk celebration of the 50th Anniversary of their association with the Garden Club of America, and the Agora New York Statewide Humanities Discussion Program and Smithsonian Exhibit hosted at the Ska-nonh Great Law of Peace Center.

This Story Walk is in tribute to botanist, author and educator, Robin Wall Kimmerer, recipient of the Garden Club of America’s Eloise Payne Luquer Medal for special achievement in botany.

Professor Kimmerer’s work highlights Indigenous principles of relationship and reciprocity with the natural world as the basis for interconnectedness and democracy between species.

Voices and Votes is a Museum on Main Street (MoMS) exhibition developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. It’s based on an exhibition by the National Museum of American History.

It has been made possible in New York State by the Museum Association of New York. Support for MoMS in New York State has been provided by the United States Congress and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.

“A New Agora for New York: Museums as Spaces for Democracy” humanities discussion programs are made possible in part by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
